The Collection
Hand-drawn in black and white, the Sketch Collection features beautiful silky shag rugs of hand-knotted New Zealand wool. Unspeakably soft, with a luscious plush pile that’s full of movement, these are rugs you’ll want to live with forever. You sink into them when you walk across, and several have a hand-braided fringe. As with all extra-soft and wooly shag rugs, these babies shed at first. Easy to use because they’re both classic and modern, this collection works in any style of home, and complements pretty much any color scheme.
The Design
These rugs feature simple, line-based motifs in a deep brownish-black. Our team reduced their designs to their most simple: they kept taking away and taking away, in an almost rhythmic fashion. Esquisse is a runner with an off-kilter modern central medallion.
The Material
Shag rugs for you to sink your feet into, the Sketch collection is woven of New Zealand wool, a premium wool beloved for its softness, shine, and long fibers. Like all wools, it has a hydrophobic layer which repels dust and dirt, as well as lanolin, which provides its trademark luster and protects the fiber from breaking or shedding. We mix it with Indian wool and hand-knot it onto a wool and cotton foundation for added durability.
The Maker
Our partner is a third-generation family-run weaving house in Bhadohi, India. They specialize in plush pile rugs, and their immense knowledge helped us improve construction for durability and less shedding. Their values are twofold: creating the highest-quality product and taking care of their team, supporting their weavers in whatever they need.
The Designer
Our in-house, all-star design team collaborates across three different countries. Based in Los Angeles, Istanbul, and Mumbai, they put a lot of thought into each and every collection they design. Starting with the weave itself, they determine material and technique, then create moodboards to capture the look and feel before starting to design. When designs are finalized, they conduct an extensive sampling process, perfecting each style and color before it goes to production.
