Made in Armenia using 100% Armenian wool with the Tufenkian Esfahan construction. This design is a great example of how we reinterpret designs first introduced over 300 years ago. Very popular in Armenian designs, the cloudband or ribbon design more commonly found on tribal rugs is here given dominance. The colors in this rug exemplify a formulation one would expect from Persian oriental rugs in the 20th Century. With Tufenkian being a pioneer in introducing color combinations more in line with modern interior design it might seem a surprise to see reds and blues used like this. Sometimes classic colors look great, especially on a design that predates most of the traditional designs we’re used to seeing. Colors: rich red field and navy blue border with accents of tan, golden brown, soft blue, sage and rust.
